4 Reflecting on guided group activity
The teacher has a key role in promoting interaction and dialogue and developing the use of mathematical language to explain and reason. It provides opportunities for the children and teachers to engage in sustained mathematical dialogue. It provides opportunities for assessment including active observation to gain information and take action. It gives pupils the opportunity to follow lines of enquiry suggested during the activity.
