4 PROCEDURE (2 slides): See p. 52-53
1. Form a cylinder with the 12-ticket strip and join the ends with tape. 2. Calculate the surface area of the inside of the cylinder (each 2-part ticket has a surface area of 25 sq. cm.). 3. Record on data section.

5 PROCEDURE: 3. Fanfold the strip of 30 tickets and place inside the cylinder to form an inner layer. Use tape to secure the ends. 4. Calculate the surface area of the inside of the folded strip. 5. Record in data section.

6 DATA (2 slides): 1. What would be the total surface area of the inside of the cylinder? 2. What is total surface area of the inside of the folded strip of tickets? 3. How much did your surface area increase?

7 DATA: Compare your model showing the fold in the walls of the small intestine to the cross-sectional view of the small intestines on p. 52 of your book.
