2 vengeance (Act II, scene iii)
(noun) – punishment inflicted in response to an offense The parents of the murdered girl are seeking vengeance against her killer.

3 tyrant (Act II, scene iii)
(noun) – a ruler who exercises absolute power unfairly or brutally. Because of his abusive tactics, Macbeth is considered a tyrant by his people.

4 treason (Act II, scene iii)
(noun) – the betrayal of trust To go against one’s country and expose their secrets is an act of treason.

5 temperate (Act II, scene iii)
(adjective) – mild; not extreme or excessive Since the weather is temperate, we’ll be able to enjoy our family picnic without worrying about extreme heat.

6 steep (Act II, scene iii)
(verb) – soak (food or tea) in water or other liquid so as to extract its flavor. I often let my tea steep for several minutes before sipping on it, so that the flavor is stronger.

7 quench (Act II, scene ii)
(verb) – to satisfy or bring an end to A tall glass of ice, cold water will really quench my thirst.

8 divulge (Act II, scene iii)
(verb) – to make public, proclaim or reveal Annabelle chose to divulge Maxine’s secret about her illness.

9 consort (Act II, scene iii)
(noun) – an associate; a ship accompanying another ship According to royal law, Prince Phillip is the Queen’s consort.

10 palpable (Act II, scene i)
(adjective) – easily seen, heard, or perceived; capable of being touched You can tell I’m angry by looking at the palpable muscle throbbing on my temple.

11 breach (Act II, scene iii)
(noun) – an interruption or opening made by breaking through Facebook has a lot of explaining to do for the major data breach made last week.
