2 What does a car need to move?
The car needs gasoline or petrol to move to give it energy. The car won’t go anywhere if it runs out of gas.

3 SO….. How do you think a human being would his/her energy come from?
They eat nuts and fruits to have more energy.

4 What Is Energy? Energy is the ability to cause change in matter.
Unit 9 Lesson 1 What Are Some Forms of Energy? What Is Energy? Energy is the ability to cause change in matter. Everything that moves has energy. Energy can be stored. Example : People and animals get energy from the foods they eat. Cars get energy from gasoline. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company

7 What are different types of energy?
Unit 9 Lesson 1 What Are Some Forms of Energy? What are different types of energy? Kinetic energy is the energy of motion(movement). A boy bouncing on a pogo stick has kinetic energy. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company

8 What are different types of energy?
Unit 9 Lesson 1 What Are Some Forms of Energy? What are different types of energy? Potential energy is the energy something has because of its position or condition. A rock at the top of a hill has potential energy. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company

14 What types of energy can you see here?
Light energy Sound energy

15 Light energy: Light is a form of energy that can travel through space.
Unit 9 Lesson 1 What Are Some Forms of Energy? Light energy: Light is a form of energy that can travel through space. We use light to see. Plants use light energy from the sun to make food. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company

16 Unit 9 Lesson 1 What Are Some Forms of Energy?
Sound energy: Sound is another form of energy. It is produced by an object vibrating. Pitch describes how high or low a sound is. Loud sounds have more energy than quiet sounds . Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company

19 Unit 9 Lesson 1 What Are Some Forms of Energy?
Chemical energy: Chemical energy is the energy that can be released by a chemical change. Chemical energy in foods give you energy. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company

20 Unit 9 Lesson 1 What Are Some Forms of Energy?
Electrical energy: Electrical energy is the energy that comes from electric current. Computers and televisions are examples of things that use electrical energy. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company

21 Unit 9 Lesson 1 What Are Some Forms of Energy?
Electrical energy: Electrical energy usually is generated by the chemical energy released from chemical reactions taking place inside the battery. The sun and wind also are used to generate electrical energy. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company
