10 Study skills Units 3 and 4_Business Management Transition_JED_2019

11 How can I use the study design outcomes to help me?
List or highlight key terms here This gives you an overview of ‘area of study 1’ as listed in the VCAA study design. In year 12, exam questions are often written to closely match the wording of the study design so it is important to be familiar with it. You could be asked to apply ANY task word to this wording OR wording from each Key Knowledge point. It is essential for you to familiarise yourself with the study design. You can find it here: Units 3 and 4_Business Management Transition_JED_2019

12 Key skills: unit 3, outcome 1
Also use the ‘key skills’ to help you Units 3 and 4_Business Management Transition_JED_2019

13 Unit 3 overview If Unit 3 School assessed Coursework [a SaC]
contributes 25% to your final result, THEN how much is each school mark worth? Outcome 1 is 1 SAC. Outcome 2 can include part a and b = 2 SACs. Outcome 3 is generally 1 SAC. What key terms would you note here? Eg. task words Units 3 and 4_Business Management Transition_JED_2019

14 What can i do to study better?
Tips for success: Obstacles to overcome: Tips for success: reading relevant text pages before class, avoiding distractions, making sure that notes are not ‘circular’, including HOW and WHY in answers, using case examples when asked to do so, completing questions under timed conditions, watching teaching bubble videos, watching Edrolo videos – and completing relevant questions, using the study design as a ‘bible’, using text book and other notes as ‘resources’ to critically evaluate. Obstacles to overcome: Playing catch up on class notes and worksheet activities, being circular with my explanations, writing brief answers, not linking theory to case study when required, listening to loud music when studying, writing out someone else’s notes without critically evaluating and linking to study design outcomes. 15 Tricky task words Using sentence structures
Units 3 and 4_Business Management Transition_JED_2019

16 What is global marking? Marking each question as a ‘whole answer’ rather than separate parts. VCAA marks against criteria. Marks are awarded - not deducted. No half marks. No deductions for bad handwriting or spelling. Contradictory answers will not receive full marks. ‘Extra’ answers will not be marked – only relevant number of items will be marked – those that are written first. More marks for existing questions. Eg. more 4 mark questions instead of 1 or 2 mark questions. Apply knowledge to a case or scenario. Units 3 and 4_Business Management Transition_JED_2019

17 How would these questions be marked globally?
2 mark discuss 2 mark compare 4 mark discuss 4 mark compare 4 mark justify 10 mark evaluate this statement: “Improved productivity, competitiveness and effectiveness for a business can only come from advances in technology.” 2m discuss = one + and one – 2m compare = one similarity and one difference 4 m discuss = two + and two – OR three + and one – OR one + and three - 4 m justify = outline this choice then 2 or 3 reasons WHY this is a good choice 10 mark evaluate this statement –Must respond to quote.
