KEY Orientation 9: :00 7th & 8th Open House 5:00-6:30 August 29 WEB Orientation for 6th graders 9:00 - 1:00 6th Grade Open House September 3rd First Day of School School begins at 8:30 and ends at 3:15 September 24th Back to School Night 6:30-8:00 Dear GWMS Families, We hope your summer has been filled with many opportunities to relax and have fun. As the summer is coming to an end, we would like to welcome you to the school year. My name is Jesse Mazur and I have the honor as serving as your principal. We have some exciting events coming up to welcome you and your students into the building before the first day of school. August 27th, we are holding KEY Transition for students with an existing IEP. We will start in the library for our meet and greet, tour the building, provide locker access and reconvene in the library for a Q&A sesson. This is a great opportunity for parents and students to have early access to the building and meet relevant staff that are here to help meet the needs of your student throughout their middle school years. No registration required for this event. August 29th, from 9:00-1:00 we are hosting WEB, "Where Everybody Belongs,” our Middle School Prep program that welcomes the sixth grade class to George Washington MS. Every sixth grade student will be assigned an eighth grade WEB Leader/Mentor who will continue to support him or her throughout the first year of middle school. Transportation is provided and a bus schedule will be mailed. Please be sure to Open House events are listed above, please come enjoy food and drinks, pick up a schedule and locker assignment, attend (optional) informational sessions, and tour the building. The middle school years are filled with an abundance of changes each year, physically, emotionally, and socially. We look forward to supporting you and your student throughout the school year so they can thrive with GW Prexie Pride: students who are prepared, have respect for themselves, others, and their community, hold integrity, are dedicated in their pursuits, and strive for excellence. With your support and involvement, we can continue to support our vibrant GW Community. Other Important Notes: If your child’s schedule contains errors, our school counselors report back on August 22, 2019 and will do their best to attend to your needs. Students who will enter grade 6 in the fall and all students in grades 7-12 should have an updated Tdap immunization and a record of the vaccination with the school.
