2 Abstract This document provides the 802.22b network operations
Mar. 2013 Abstract This document provides the b network operations Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

3 Possible Communications (doc. 22-13-xx-xx)
Mar. 2013 Possible Communications (doc xx-xx) L1 only communications (CC1) Same as a legacy Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

4 L1 and L3 only communications
Mar. 2013 L1 and L3 only communications When S-CPE is located inside of MR-BS area Centralized scheduling or distributed scheduling mode is available depending on network conditions Centralized scheduling mode (CC2) Distributed scheduling (CC3) When S-CPE is located outside of MR-BS area (CC4) Distributed scheduling mode is only available since S-CPE can not synchronize to MR-BS R-CPE shall perform as a local BS Example of CC2 or CC3 Example of CC4 Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

5 L1, L2 and L3 communications
Mar. 2013 L1, L2 and L3 communications Is only available for S-CPE to locate inside of MR-BS Centralized scheduling or distributed scheduling mode is available depending on network conditions Centralized scheduling mode (CC5) Distributed scheduling (CC6) Relay uplink is only available from S-CPE to MR-BS Example of CC5 or CC6 Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

6 Mar. 2013 Communication Cases Scheduling mode Links Locations R-CPE
Note CC1 Centralized mode L1 Inside of MR-BS area No R-CPE Legacy 22 CC2 L1 and L3 Relay R-CPE 22b CC3 Distributed R-CPE as Local BS CC4 Outside of MR-BS area CC5 L1, L2 and L3 CC6 Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

7 802.22b Network Operations Initialization Synchronization
Mar. 2013 802.22b Network Operations Initialization Synchronization Initial ranging Basic capability exchanging AAA authentication (Option) Registration Operation parameter Establish service flow Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

8 High-Level 802.22b Operations
Mar. 2013 High-Level b Operations Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

9 MR-BS Network Operations
Mar. 2013 MR-BS Network Operations No major change from 22 BS operations Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

10 CPE Network Operations
Mar. 2013 CPE Network Operations Initialization CPE performs self test. CPE acquires the antenna gain information. CPE acquires the device capabilities (e.g, network mgmt, relay, MIMO, geolocation capability, etc.) to confirm the desired operations of CPE Centralized R-CPE Distributed R-CPE S-CPE Black colored is not major changes or no change from 22 Red colored is major changes from 22 or new Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

11 CPE Network Operations
Mar. 2013 CPE Network Operations Synchronization CPE senses for and synchronizes to WRAN services. The sensing thread also begins during this step to detect broadcasting incumbents. Synchronizing to MR-BS (CC1, CC2, CC3, CC5, CC6) Local synchronizing to R-CPE (CC3, CC4, CC6) CPE presents sensing results to the higher layers. CPE chooses a WRAN service. Choosing MR-BS CC1 (Shall), CC2 (Shall), CC5 (Shall) CC3 (May) Choosing R-CPE CC4 (Shall), CC6 (Shall) Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

12 Example of Synchronization
Mar. 2013 Example of Synchronization CC2 and CC5 Synch. Synch. Synch. Synch. (centralized scheduling mode) Example of CC5 Example of CC2 Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)

13 Example of Synchronization
Mar. 2013 Example of Synchronization CC3 and CC6 Synch. Synch. Synch. Synch. Synch. Synch. (distributed scheduling mode) Example of CC6 Example of CC3 Chang-woo Pyo (NICT)
