Why Engage with ISO/IEC JTC1/SC6?
ISO branding a requirement for procurement in many international market segments
ISO has proven an important tool for extending the IEEE brand
WTO rules require signatories to allow deployment of international standards
IEEE is not “legally” an international standard
But ISO/IEC is
Much work remains to protect and extend our brand within ISO/IEC
Call to Action: The WG needs a chair to facilitate this work

JTC1 Ad Hoc Chair Responsibilities
Convene JTC1 Ad Hoc meetings and draw up its program of work
Drive WG and 802 positions on SC6 actions affecting and 802 more generally
Establish how will engage with SC6: in person? via ?
Help decide whether to change the format: Remain an ad hoc? Become a standing committee? Task group? Dissolve?
When and how often to meet?
Participate in dialog with 802 ExCom
Because the IEEE 802 LMSC holds the liaison to SC6, not
Participate in dialog with IEEE staff
Communicate documents and positions between and SC6
Recruit participants to SC6 activities
Travel to SC6 meetings, when possible
Participation in his/her country’s SC6 process if possible

Willing to listen to the WG membership, ExComm, IEEE Staff, SC6 National Bodies, ITTF staff
