A = Apnea ventilation was activated, and no spontaneous recovery was seen. AR = Apnea ventilation was activated, and ventilator recovered triggering spontaneously. IE = Ineffective efforts occurred in >20% of simulated breaths. AR* = Apnea ventilation was activated only when leak decreased to that level. Ventilator recovered triggering spontaneously.
