1 Methods for measurement of total lung capacity (TLC) and residual volume (RV) via body plethysmography. Methods for measurement of total lung capacity (TLC) and residual volume (RV) via body plethysmography. A: Functional residual capacity (FRC) is measured during shutter closure. The subject then exhales to RV before taking a vital capacity (VC) breath to TLC. B: FRC is measured during shutter closure. The subject then takes an inspiratory capacity (IC) breath to TLC before exhaling a VC breath to RV.
