2 About CC International was founded in 1994 Have managed over 5,000 volunteers (fellow ASBers) Disaster relief, environmental and human service projects http://www.community collaborations.org/early education

3 Your Role CC International volunteers will be working with Head Start and Early Head Start centers (operated by Moore Community House-MCH in Biloxi, MS and Mississippi Head Start Association) Early Head Start Provide early care and education - infants to three-year-olds and comprehensive health and family support services-- including for pregnant mothers. MCH's program targets teen mothers so they can remain in school and graduate. Head Start Volunteers will assist Head Start teachers and staff in providing education to preschool youth. Volunteers will work on teacher assigned tasks directly with children as well as projects that support the overall program.

4 Optional Gulf Coast Restoration Volunteers can decide to do a little of both!

5 CC International Daily Volunteer Schedule 7:00am Breakfast and pack bag lunch 7:45am Depart to project site 12 noon Lunch at project site 4:30 pm Return to volunteer facility 6–7:00pm Dinner 7:30–10:00pm Free time (local speakers scheduled each Wednesday night)

6 Trip Details 898 miles ~14 hrs Leave UIC March 23 rd Return to UIC March 29 th Average temps range from 52 o F to 69 o F in March

7 Lodging Well have: A Place to Sleep, Clean and sanitary showers and bathroom, Recreation Space, Internet Access, Three meals per day with a vegetarian option Food and Lodging Each day we will be served breakfast and make our own brown bag lunch before departing to the project site. Dinner will be served each evening. Vegetarian options are available for each meal, refrigerator space is available to store personal food for those with special dietary needs. SPECIAL NOTE: In order to minimize our environmental footprint, were responsible for bringing our own plates, silverware, cups, water bottles, and bowls. We will provided with a Red Cross approved sanitary dish washing station

8 What to bring… Classroom appropriate clothing for working with Head Start children (no tank tops, short shorts, flip flops) Work clothes for working in restoration projects (optional) A positive attitude!

9 Free Day! Fun and Free Visit the Friendship Oak Tree (over 5 centuries old) Hurricane Katrina Tree Sculptures (oaks that died due to Hurricane Katrina are now works of art) Visit the worlds largest rocking chair! (35 tall) Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge and Visitor Center Visit the beach – see the Gulf of Mexico $$$ Great nightlife for those who are of age! Kayaking
