Breakdown of episodes of acute HCV infection. *Four patients experienced two discrete acute infections, 1 of whom had nonclearance with first episode and spontaneous clearance with second episode. This patient is therefore counted once as a spontaneous clearance and once as no spontaneous clearance. **One patient was treated for two discrete acute infections with PEG-IFN + RBV and is counted as two SVRs.
