Hydrate or Diedrate!: Jesus the Living Water (Based on Writings of John the Apostle)
3
Learned disciples of Jesus are given eternal life.
6
1. The Testimony: Jesus is the Son of God.
7
1 John 5:5-6 And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross—not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony.
8
“If Jesus, the Son of God did not bear our sins in His death in the fullness of His person, then He cannot reconcile us to God.”
9
Acts 20:28 So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church, purchased with his own blood.
10
Galatians 2:20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
12
2. The Witness: God Himself
13
Verses 7-8 So we have these three witnesses--the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree.
14
The Triple Testimony: Water, Blood, Spirit
15
Water = God’s Son at Baptism
2. Blood = God’s Son on the Cross
17
Water = God’s Son at Baptism
2. Blood = God’s Son on the Cross 3. Spirit = God’s Son testified to by the Spirit
18
Verse 9 Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God. And God has testified about his Son.
19
3. The Invitation: Eternal Life!
20
Verse 10-11 All who believe in the Son of God know in their hearts that this testimony is true. Those who don’t believe this are actually calling God a liar because they don’t believe what God has testified about his Son. And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

"Hearts on earth say in the course of a joyful experience, 'I don't want this ever to end.' But it invariably does. The hearts in heaven say, 'I want this to go on forever.' And it will. There can be no better news than this." --J. I. Packer
