1 Inverse Property of Addition
Fold over and glue this in your Math Journal Commutative Property of Addition Associative Property of Addition Distributive Property Identity Property of Multiplication Inverse Property of Addition Application of the Properties of Operations

2 The product of any number and 1 is that number.
Reordering the terms does not change the value of the expression. (3+14) + 27 = (14+3) + 27 Regrouping the terms does not change the value of the expression. (14+3) + 27 = 14 + (3+27) Distributing the common factor does not change the value of the expression (3+27) = (1+9) The product of any number and 1 is that number. 1 x 4 + (3 – 7) = 4 + (3 – 7) The sum of a number and its opposite is always 0. Remember, 4 – 4 is equivalent to 4 + (– 4). 4 + (3 – 7) = 4 – 4 = 0 You can apply properties of operations to a variable expression to create equivalent expressions. Property (3x + 14) + 27 = (14 + 3x) +27 Commutative (14 + 3x) + 27 = 14 + (3x + 27) Associative 14 + (3x + 27) = (x + 9) Distributive
