2 ETHICAL GUIDELINES FOR STAFF
“ETHICS” - showing a high regard for the right of others

3 Maintain Confidentiality
Keep student information private! Don’t speak about it to other professionals (except on a need-to-know basis), to your friends or family, or to students. The principle is easy to violate - be careful! FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) Protects the privacy of parents and students A school district receiving federal funds may lose those funds if it disclosed personally identifiable information in a student’s education records without the proper consent.

4 Maintain a Respectful Demeanor
Behave professionally by remaining calm, using appropriate language, not acting sarcastic, using an appropriate tone Do this even if the other person (e.g., parent, student, teacher) is not!

5 Present Students in a Positive Light
As “community connectors”, convey to community members a positive attitude about the students by focusing on their strengths and positive characteristics. Avoid embarrassing students and offer suggestions in private in the form of constructive criticism.

6 Maintain a regular attendance
