36 Humans use denary OR decimal numbers in our everyday life.
Computers use Binary instead Base 10 denary 1,2,3... Base 2 binary 010011

37 Converting Denary to Binary
For example to convert the number 29 write the column headings: 32 16 8 4 2 1 1 1 1 1 1 is equal to the 1 column so put a 1 in the 1 column. Add up the columns to check you have the correct answer. 29 =

38 Convert the Denary Numbers into Binary
32 16 8 4 2 1 54 – 32 = 22 54 = 1 1 1 1 22 – 16 = 6 6 – 4 = 2 2 – 2 = 0 = 54 32 16 8 4 2 1 25 = 1 1 1 25 – 16 = 9 9 – 8 = 1 = 25

39 4+1 = 5 Binary to denary conversions 1 means ‘on’ and 0 means ‘off’
128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 = 5 4+1 = 5

40 Binary to denary 16 8 4 2 1 Denary 16 8 4 2 1 Denary 16 8 4 2 1 Denary
16 8 4 2 1 Denary 16 8 4 2 1 Denary 16 8 4 2 1 Denary

41 Create your own binary numbers and convert them to denary
16 8 4 2 1 Denary 16 8 4 2 1 Denary 16 8 4 2 1 Denary

42 Convert the Denary Numbers into Binary
32 16 8 4 2 1 54 – 32 = 22 54 = 1 1 1 1 22 – 16 = 6 6 – 4 = 2 2 – 2 = 0 = 54 32 16 8 4 2 1 25 = 1 1 1 25 – 16 = 9 9 – 8 = 1 = 25

43 Start with the highest number that goes into 15
How can we convert 20 into binary? Denary 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 15 Start with the highest number that goes into 15 = 15

44 Click revise on the following sections and complete quiz
