Pembroke learned of this and sent 1500 knights to attack surprise Bruce heard about the planned attack Bruce’s 300 men chased Pembroke and his men out of the glen English suffered heavy losses Glen Trool

3 Glen Trool - April 1307 RESULT News of Bruce’s triumph spread
Supporters joined daily Strong enough to leave the hills Set up his new headquarters at Galston Galston Glen Trool

4 Loudoun Hill - May 1307 Edward I ordered Pembroke reassembled 3000 troops and advance on Galston Bruce withdrew to Loudoun Hill WHY? English would be forced to fight in a small area Bruce and his men cut ditches into the land Loudoun Hill

5 Loudoun Hill - May 1307 1st English squadron attacked
- Broke up trying to avoid ditches - Many killed, unhorsed or turned back 2nd English squadron attacked - Collided with 1st squadron Many English ran away in panic Soon the whole force fled Loudoun Hill
