War Industries Board (WIB) encouraged companies to improve efficiency
Food Administration - “meatless,” “sweetless,” “wheatless,” and “porkless” days.
Fuel Administration -“gasless sundays” and “lightless nights”
Espionage Act fine $10,000 or 20 years in jail for disrupting war effort or for saying anything disloyal, profane, or abusive about the government of the war effort

The war was paid for with Progressive Income tax, sin taxes, and War Bonds
War Bonds are loans to government by American people
Propaganda Posters, paintings, and cartoons encouraged Americans to enlist, buy bonds, or save food and energy

6. Economic and social Effects
Worker’s shortage led to women taking on industrial jobs
Women also served in the Armed forces, mostly as nurses.
African Americans began The Great Migration north in search of industrial jobs and to escape racial discrimination in the south
German’s were mistreated (flogging or tar and feathers)
Hamburger renamed “liberty sandwich”
