Characters in a Kafkaesque settings often lack a clear course of action to escape a mazelike situation.
The term has transcended the literary realm to apply to real-life occurrences and situations that are incomprehensibly complex, bizarre, or illogical.

Franz Kafka died of tuberculosis in 1924 in his 40s. He was not a well- known writer during his lifetime. Despite passing away in obscurity at a young age, many of his readers believe that his stories have become more relevant with time.
