2. Using Slideshows Slideshows are not necessary
Keep contents of slide simple
Use slides intelligently – i.e. displaying graphs, maps, photos, etc.
Do not read the slides
Not a replacement for engaging the tutorial group through a thoughtful, well-researched presentation

3. What Your Tutorial Should Contain
Introduce topic and authors
A presentation of each article
Identify thesis
Identify supporting arguments
Present questions
Concluding remarks

4. Introducing the Topic
Briefly establish what the tutorial covers and the primary issues
Contextualize article – authorship matters
Not simply a bio

5. Outline Arguments Identify areas of contention between the authors
What are the overarching themes?
Why are the articles important?

6. Questions Use questions that focus on points made during discussion
Create own questions or use some questions from book
Generate discussion by using direct questions
Generate discussion by offering your own answers

7. When not presenting Responsible for having read the article
Have text book with you
Prepare answers for the questions (they will be distributed prior to the tutorial)
