4. 62 Children Were Killed by Abuse in 2001 -2002.
According to TV news on June 20th, 2002, we could not protect such a big number of children from abuse.

5. Domestic Violence was Also the Same Problem.
Domestic Violence was also a secret from Japanese society for a long time.
However, many battered women had now courage to reveal their situation to someone else.
That is why they learned that the violence is obviously a crime.

6. What I Saw in a Hospital in the USA
When I visited a hospital for children in Tucson, USA, I saw many papers on the wall. The paper says :
Children have a right to
Tell their caretaker where or when something hurts.
Ask questions if they don’t understand something.
Choose which ear should be looked at first or in which arm to have a shot.
Ask for something to make their pain feel better such as the white cream that helps make shots feel better.
Ask to have a parent or other adult stay with them during their examination.
Listen to music, play a game, or read a book to help distract them during medical procedures.
Cry, laugh or be mad if it helps them feel better.

7. Is Patience Really a Virtue?
Patience sometimes causes a tragic. Many children think it a shame to reveal their pain and bad condition to adults.
Japanese people who think patience is the best and the most necessary virtue for happy life have educated and trained children following this idea.
But as the previous paper shows, children have a right to ask for help to adults.
Adults have a duty to protect children from violence.

8. We should Protect Our Own Right to Live.
When we have some unfair treatment, we should show it to someone else.
It is true to every child. When he/she gets violence from someone, whether small or big, he/she should reveal it and ask for help to someone nearby.
We, adults, have to prepare for protecting the children who appealed for help.

9. Necessity to Bring up Children Who can Show Their Feeling Honestly
Now we, including the government, are focusing on how to find the abused children from our surroundings. But it is hard for us to look in others’ homes and catch the sign of abuse from the family.
But if the children themselves can have courage to appeal for help, we will be able to prepare for their protection from the violent people.
