2. “Everyone who confesses Me before men …” Luke 12:8-9
Confession defined:
“to say the same thing as another” (Thayer)
“… the effect of deep conviction of facts …” (Vine).
To acknowledge truth unashamedly. (Romans 1:16; 2 Timothy 1:8-12; 2:15)
- not the same as repentance!

3. “Everyone who confesses Me before men …” Luke 12:8-9
Confession:
Who He is! That Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God and our Lord. Romans 10:9-10; 1 John 4:2; Acts 8:37; Philippians 2:11
Who we are! Sinners. 1 John 1:9; James 5:16; Psalms 32:5; Proverbs 28:13
Where our hope is (and isn’t)! Heaven and not here on earth. Hebrews 10:23; 11:13; 1 Peter 3:15
The basis for our hope! The gospel. 2 Corinthians 9:13; Colossians 1:5
not the same as repentance!
2 Cor 9:13, “they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ”

4. “… the Son of Man will confess …” Luke 12:8-9
If we confess Jesus … Jesus will confess us before the heavenly host and God the Father (Matthew 10:32; Revelation 3:5) our fellowship and relationship with Him (John 15:14-15).

5. “… He who denies Me before men …” Luke 12:8-9
Deny - “contradict; i.e. disavow, reject” (Strong). Matthew 26:69-70; 2 Timothy 2:11-12; Mark 8:38
Denial also involves:
Disobedience (uncompliant) or worthlessness: Titus 1:16
Self-sufficiency and not needing Him: Proverbs 30:9
Living by our own authority: Matthew 7:23
Putting off our obedience and failing to be ready: Matthew 25:12; (Luke 13:25)
