2. Targets for Today To understand the new CORE/CHOICE program at EHS.

3. CORE/CHOICE at EHS
A support model designed to provide extra time and help for students struggling in any courses (D’s and F’s); and enrichment for students meeting standard (A’s , B’s, and C’s).
This support model is held within the school day.

4. CORE
All students who received one or more D’s and F’s last semester of have been placed in a CORE group based on individual academic needs.
The intent of this program is to provide CORE students extra support and encouragement in the specific academic areas they are struggling in.

5. CORE
Students have been assigned to a specific teacher in at least one subject area they need support in.
Students will receive academic support and peer mentoring for 25 minutes three days a week between 2nd and 3rd period.
Student who raise their grades to C’s or better can earn placement in CHOICE as soon as the next session.

6. CHOICE
All students receiving C’s and above have been placed in CHOICE.
These students have the ability to determine from a menu of options and select which option will best meet their learning needs on each day.

7. CHOICE
Students in CHOICE have earned the responsibility to use CHOICE time to meet their own needs.
Students must remain in the CHOICE location they have selected for that day.
Students can choose a different location each day.
Stress that students need to remain in the Choice option that they select for the entire 25 minute period.
Remind students that they can choose a different location each day.

8. CORE * CHOICE at EHS -- 9th graders
All 9th grade students have been assigned to CORE for the first three week session to assist with the transition to high school.
They can earn CHOICE beginning the second session by having C’s or better at the end of the first session.

9. CORE * CHOICE – ALL students
The placement of students in CORE and CHOICE will be adjusted every three weeks based on student performance in their classes.
Teachers will post grades every third Thursday and students will receive adjusted schedules the following Monday.

Turn and talk with a neighbor about what you have heard presented so far.
Write down any clarifying questions you have about what has been presented so far.

11. How will you know where to go?
Hand out CHOICE options document (two separate pages-options list and accompanying key) to students.
Review the details for the OPTIONS.
Clarify any questions students have.
If unsure how to answer – record the question and we will get answers later.
For CTE options you need to be in that class.
Choose an option and remain there for the period.
You can choose another option the next day.
