3 What is EMV? EMV technology has become the global standard for credit card and debit card payments. Credit cards are now equipped with computer chip technology for authentication US card issuers are migrating to this technology to protect consumers and reduce the costs of fraud

6 Obstacles Availability of Equipment
15 million point of sale terminals will have to be upgraded to accept chip cards in the US Costs $6.75 billion estimated cost to replace/upgrade POS terminals

7 If you choose not to get EMV- enabled equipment and the card in question is EMV-enabled, the EMV liability shift will move the accountability away from issuing banks and onto you, the business owner All sales are subject to chargeback when EMV cards are used on non-upgraded credit card systems Non-Compliance & Merchant Liability
