BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 1 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 2 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE System l pressure is varied by the Regulator (Relief Valve) controlling a Pressure Reducing module. Regulator Valve / Reducing Valve

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 3 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE System ll pressure is varied by the proportional pressure reducing module. Increasing voltage will cause a proportional increase in pressure.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 4 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE These modules are incorporated into the system to provide the necessary reduced pressures required to control roll pressures throughout the various steps and conditions encountered during the casting process. A.There are 2 pressure reducing modules used to reduce high pressure system 0 (2940 PSI) to high pressure system I, & II. System I module is preset to operate within a specific pressure range allocated to meet the condition required by the roll groups it must supply.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 5 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE All adjustments within its range are manually adjusted. System I is used primarily for dummy bar insert. System II module is electrically adjustable in the casting pulpit, or locally given the correct permissive (on a control panel in the valve room). System II is used during casting and is adjusted based on the width of the slab being cast. Through pressure transducers, signals are transmitted to pressure indicators located on the operator's stations. These modules operate only when the hydraulics are on, and the main valve is open.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 6 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE B. These modules are located on panel common with the main valve and pressure switch module and in line with the directional valve panels. System I module is comprised of a pressure reducing valve, relief valve, and a pressure transducer. System II module is comprised of a pressure reducing valve, pressure relief valve, a motor operated relief valve, and a pressure transducer.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 7 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE 1.)System I, VICKERS MODEL # F3 DGK 05 3F 60 pressure reducing valve ( A ) is of the balanced spool design and incorporates as its pilot control a direct spring action relief valve all in one housing, the pilot controls the bleed-off on pilot which controls position of main spool, thereby producing the desired pressure setting. By varying the pilot section spring pressure through adjusting screw, the desired pressures are produced. Any time these valves are operated below system 0 pressure, there will be a bleed off of the pilot section which is vented back to tank, this feature is necessary to maintain the setting selected.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 8 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE 2.)System I, VICKERS MODEL # F3 DGC 05 F 50 relief valve ( B ) is incorporated in this circuit to provide a yield point in case of excessive pressure build up somewhere within the system's area (such as tapered dummy bar parts as they move through rolls).

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 9 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE This valve is piggy backed to pressure reducing valve and is remote piloted using pressure reducing valve pilot to control relief point, which will be a constant of 90 PSI above reducing valve setting In order for relief pilot control to vent through pressure reducing valve pilot, where it must receive its control, it will be necessary to preset manual adjusting screw on relief valve pilot above highest possible relief setting that will be encountered to prevent manual adjustment from overriding remote control.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 10 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM I

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 11 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE 3.) System II comprises: 1- shut-off valve ( C ) to isolate from supply 1- REXROTH #DR 30-2-32/315 YMV pressure reducing valve (PRV-192, PRV-292 for strand 2) for system pressure reduction, equipped with external pilot drain which is connected to: 1- REXROTH #DBGT-12/200 VEI DC motor operated pressure relief valve ( D ).

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 12 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE The reduced outlet pressure of valve (PRV-191) is also directed to: 1 - REXROTH #DB 30-2-30/315Y/12V Pressure relief valve ( E ) acting as a secondary relief valve. Valve ( E ) is also equipped with external pilot drain which is connected to the motor operated valve ( D ) The three valves (PRV-192), ( D ), & ( E ) together provide, in this case, remote controllable adjustable System II pressure.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 13 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE The valve (PRV-192) is adjusted to its minimum setting by means of spindle adjustment (turned counterclockwise) for minimum setting. The valve ( E ) is first adjusted to its minimum setting by means of spindle adjustment (turned counterclockwise for minimum setting) and then turned 2 to 3 turns clockwise for slight pressure setting. The valve ( D ) is first electrically adjusted to its minimum setting by means of electrical signal supply, and then by increasing signal supply adjusted to higher or desired pressure setting.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 14 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE When pilot flow is generated by valves (PRV-192), and ( E ), it is directed to the motorized relief valve ( D ) which can now be adjusted to desired pressure. When desired pressure is reached, the motorized valve ( D.), wiD.1 open allowing excessive pressure being bled over this valve to be directed to the drain line D via: 1 - Check valve ( F ). NOTE: Refer to system schematic for valve designations i.e.. ( A ), ( B ) ( C ), etc.

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 15 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM Ii

BeginningNext SlideBack End Program AVADAL 16 of 16 SK-13 PRESSURE REDUCING MODULE Roll systems, SK-3, must yield in case of excessive pressure or tapered dummy bar parts passing through those rolls. Reversed flow fluid must be bled to tank at a pressure no greater than 100 PSI above pressure reducing valve setting. In case of electrical power-failure, the hydraulic control functions must be maintained as selected at time of failure.
