The longer people are encouraged to remain in this life stage, the better for older people themselves, their families, communities and society as a whole. Third Age recognises and celebrates the fact that older people are a diverse group with different needs, abilities, backgrounds and experiences. 10 Log on and Learn’ Avondale Community College
Transition Year students in Avondale Community College, Wicklow, invited older members of the community to share in learning about computer and mobile phone usage on a one to one basis. Log On, Learn is an initiative in which Transition Year students buddy up with an older person from the local community and they share their computer and life skills with each other. This course was very successful and the participants have successfully completed this course and have received their certificate. Could your school do this? 
