Early disclosure to the Working Group of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chair as early as possible, in written or electronic form, if patented technology (or technology under patent application) might be incorporated into a draft standard being developed within the IEEE Working Group. 2 Motion for changing TGu MAC anonymity requirements
03/07/2019 doc.: IEEE /0xxxr0 November 2006 Abstract Motion for changing TGu MAC anonymity requirements Necati Canpolat, Intel Corporation Necati Canpolat, Intel Corp.

3 03/07/2019 doc.: IEEE /0xxxr0 November 2006 Why Change? At the IEEE July 2006 meeting, TGu members expressed concerns on the MAC anonymity requirements. TGu decided to postpone the TGu down selection voting on the MAC address anonymity requirement until more information is received from cellular organisations up to the next IEEE 802 plenary (06/1008r1) IEEE u created and sent a liaison letter to 3GPP SA3 asking for more information about their concerns with MAC Address anonymity, before the September 2006 meeting. (06/1127r1 liaison-to-3gpp-sa3.doc) received a response from on Nov 10, 2006 with S However, they have not provided any details. They indicated that” “When the information about usage of identifiers (e.g. MAC address) in LTE is ready in SA3, SA3 will provide it to IEEE u” Since we have not received any justification from 3GPP on the issue. As decided in IEEE July meeting, it is now time to remove the MAC anonymity requirements from TGu requirements doc. If SA3 comes up with clear requirements and details on that TGu may review it and make a decision on it. Necati Canpolat, Intel Corporation Necati Canpolat, Intel Corp.

4 03/07/2019 doc.: IEEE /0xxxr0 November 2006 Motion Move to direct the editor to remove “Protection Cluster” in TGu Requirements doc 05/0822r12. The document will then be updated to r13. Proposed: Seconded: Result (for/against/abstain): Necati Canpolat, Intel Corporation Necati Canpolat, Intel Corp.
