2 What are the five senses?
SIGHT SMELL HEARING TASTE TOUCH

3 SIGHT Our eyes let us see the things around us.

4 TASTE You taste things with your tongue. The top of your tongue is covered with small bumps that we call taste buds that help us taste things that are: Bitter Sour Sweet Salty

5 TOUCH Touch is to use your skin to feel another object.
Everyone has touch receptors. They are on your skin and they look like onions or jelly. When the are squeezed, the layers rub against each other you are able to feel the object!

6 HEARING We use our ears to hear sounds everyday.
Our ears pick up and send information about sounds to your brain. Some people are not able to hear and we call that being deaf.

7 SMELL When we breath in through our nose and mouth we can smell different things. The smells stick to the mucus in our nose and send a message to our brain to tell us what the smell is!

8 TEKS Used for Kindergarten
(4)  Health information. The student knows the basic structures and functions of the human body and how they relate to personal health. The student is expected to: (1)  name the five senses; (2)  name major body parts and their functions; and
