1 Software Development  charles boutwell

2 Background Info I've been on technology since I was very little. The earliest piece of tech that I've messed with is a Gamecube when I was 6. This made me want to play more video games and I would say about 20% of my childhood was based around playing videogames with my friends. When Highschool came around I started becoming more serious about it and started looking into Schools and University's to become a Software Developer.

3 What is Software Development?
Software Development is the development of software like apps you use every day, games, and websites you may visit every day. It's just putting together lines of code to make something new giving the computer prompts and commands to do what you're asking to do based on what your coding in using different languages. ( HTML, C++, Java, etc.)

4 Influential People in this Career Decision
I think the most influential people in this decision have to be my Mom and Mr. Englehardt. Mr. E is extremely supportive and in his class we have to do design work on computers which is another major role in the Development process so you could say his class helped me know another key part in the Development process. My Mom helped me pick this career because she's always pushed me to do my best but has always told me since Middle School that I need to get a career doing what I want to do. She drilled that deep in my head saying the likes of " If you do what you want it's less of a job and more of a fun hobby to earn money ".

5 Work Environment  The general work environment consists of lines of computers in a small environment. You work in teams of people that work on part of the Software that your trying to make. There is the head of the team that delegates the work and you have the general team members. You have to be very communicative with everyone else and be helpful to each other because of the deadlines you have to meet. You can be swapped around teams if something is needed more than what you're working and your small team mainly consists of four to five people. A Software Developer generally works 40 to 50 hours a week, sometimes more to meet deadlines for whatever project you may be doing.

6 How Do You Become a Software Developer?
Generally now a days you need a Bachelors or Masters in Software Development or a more specific degree if you're looking to get into one field (For Example, if you specifically only want to make Video Games, you could get a Bachelors in Video Game Production). If you want a job anywhere. You could always start your own Development Studio and start small making apps, games, or a helpful internet program/website. From there you could work your way up to a bigger studio if a piece of software you make goes viral and that’s totally without a college degree. But if you're looking for a stable job, then it's recommended to get a degree because it's extremely likely that your studio could flop if you don't maintain success

7 How I'm becoming a Software Developer
I'm going to start becoming a Software Developer by graduating here from Belleview and then going to a University in Winter Park, FL called  Full Sail University to earn my Bachelors in Software Development. Then after 20 months, I'm looking to work for Blizzard Entertainment (My number one choice) or Nintendo of America (My second choice) but would really accept any stable job.

8 Pay  Software Developers have a general starting pay of $60,000 up. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics,  the median pay for a Software Developer is $102,280.

9 Job Outlook Employment of software developers is projected to grow 24 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Employment of applications developers is projected to grow 31 percent, and employment of systems developers is projected to grow 11 percent. The main reason for the growth in both applications developers and systems developers is a large increase in the demand for computer software. The need for new applications on smart phones and tablets will help increase the demand for applications software developers.

11 Similar Occupations Computer and Information Research Scientists
Computer and information research scientists invent and design new approaches to computing technology and find innovative uses for existing technology. They study and solve complex problems in computing for business, medicine, science, and other fields. Master's degree $111,840 Computer and Information Systems Managers Computer and information systems managers, often called information technology (IT) managers or IT project managers, plan, coordinate, and direct computer-related activities in an organization. They help determine the information technology goals of an organization and are responsible for implementing computer systems to meet those goals. Bachelor's degree $135,800
