Multivariable-Adjusted Spline Modeling the Relationships of LV Ejection Fraction With the Risk of the Composite Primary Outcome (HF or Death) A continuous, nearly linear relationship was seen between left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction and the combined outcome. The result of a test of nonlinearity was nonsignificant (p = 0.28). The spline was adjusted for age, sex, body mass index, baseline cardiovascular disease, smoking, diabetes, systolic blood pressure, and history of antihypertensive therapy. Knots were placed at the 1, 25, 50, and 75th percentile of LV ejection fraction. HF = heart failure; HR = hazard ratio; Ln = natural logarithm. Connie W. Tsao et al.
