1 Father’s Day 2017 Rise Up and Lead!

2 Main Text Ephesians 6:4 (NKJV)
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

3 1. Do not “provoke” Provoke means to rouse to wrath, to make angry, to enrage Provoking leads to separation while reasoning leads to solution

4 2. “Bring them up” Bring means to nourish up to maturity.
Nourish means to provide substance necessary for growth. Keep in one’s mind; supply with what is necessary for life, health and growth. Father’s responsibility to bro bring them up Father’s responsibility to be an example to the children. Father’s responsibility to living by the Word of God Father’s responsibility to honor his wife.

5 a. Train them up Train means to educate our children; cultivate the mind, morals and to bring reproof or punishment. Father’s responsibility to bro bring them up Father’s responsibility to be an example to the children. Father’s responsibility to living by the Word of God Father’s responsibility to honor his wife.

6 1) Proverbs 22:6 (NLT) 6Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it. Train up a child in the way that he should go. It didn’t say that he/she would follow, we are to establish a boundary and guidelines for our children to live by but its up to them to live it! We are to train – not giving our kids over to someone else to train, but we are to be involved in the process!

7 b. Admonition them Admonish means to exhort, calling attention to.
Romans 15:14 Paul didn’t focus on the church at Rome’s faults, but he pointed out their good qualities As Father’s we must take the time to build up and point out the good qualities in our children before bringing correction This builds their esteem to be able to receive corrective criticism building them up in the ways and word of the Lord.

8 1) 1 Thessalonians 5:14 14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. Paul didn’t say we are coming to tear you down, put you in your place; he said we “exhort you”.

9 Conclusion As Fathers, not just any father’s, but Christian Fathers, we have a responsibility to bring our kids up in the training and admonition of the Lord. If we don’t, someone else is willing to raise them up. There are homes without fathers and we could be that example. Take time and become a Father to your own house and help mentor other children without a father figure.
