1 News from CERN Not very much in the last two weeks:
Silicon situation still critical They need replacement parts beyond the spare amount; need to restart production Release delayed again: need 2 to 4 more weeks (last estimate) The introduction of configurables a big pain in the neck: all the packages need to change their job_option and their C++ code! Also no backward compatibility (not sure you read data made with 12 with 13, it is true for cosmics data) For the alignment front still struggling with SCT misalignment effects on TRT. The idea is to try a TRT-only alignment Try to gauge the effect with a special reconstruction set: SCT-perfect + TRT-misaligned) Request from Maria Costa (prompted by A. Clark, the editor) about plots from eff/noise study to be included in the ATLAS ID detector paper in preparation. 3 plots under discussion to be provided asap

2 Richard Plots I Remove the MC Do it in ROOT
Error bars (sys+syst), Not trivial !

3 Richard Plots II Probably they want just the average noise level.
Error bars again not trivial Make it for each module not layer

4 Richard Plots III Need more statistics and optimized bin size to get rid of the gap ~ 1

5 Upcoming Meetings This Week: Trigger and Physics Week
All major physics meeting this week Next Week: ATLAS Software Week (in Munich) Endorsement of the release
