India is located in the south of the Asian continent, bordering the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The country is slightly more than one- third the size of the United States. The country's territory is measured at nearly 3.3 million square kilometers 

3. British Imperialism
In 1707 the Mughal empire collapsed. Then in 1757 east India company led a decisive victory over the Indian forces at the battle of plassey. East India company was the leading power in India.

4. British Imperialism
British government regulated east India companies efforts in both London and India until the 19th century
They had there own armies led by British Officers and staffed by Indian soldiers
Held India in firm grip for many years

5. Vocabulary Sepoys – Indian Soldiers
“jewel in the crown” – most valuable of all of Britain’s colonies
Sepoy Mutiny – the out break of the Indians towards British religious beliefs
Raj – refers to the British rule after India came under the British crown during the reign of Queen Victoria
