2 Getting started Log in to computers using your lunch number for your user name and password. Turn to journal entry #1 (second page). Select one of the questions in the top box as your guiding prompt. Conduct a web search to try and find information that will help you answer your guiding prompt.

3 What next… When you have found a website (or two) that can help you answer your prompt, flip to the back page of your packet. Find the Evaluating Internet Resources page. On the page you will provide pertinent information about the website you are using.

4 How… Website Address can be found in the url box:
Domain is the .com, .org, .net etc… Last updated date can usually be found near the bottom of the page. Many times one may not be listed on a commercial site.

5 Many times the author will be listed next to the title of the article or on the bottom of the page. Here one author could not be found but the page was published by the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau

6 What are you writing about (use complete sentences).
Who is sponsoring (paying for) the website? How did you figure that out? What is the site trying to do? Make you want to travel there? Help you understand something? What? How do you know this author knows what he/she/it is talking about?

7 In school, credible sources for educational material end in a. edu,
In school, credible sources for educational material end in a .edu, .gov, or .org. Does this site? How do you know? Is it appropriate for educational purposes?

8 Is the information on the site you are using attributed to another source?
