But the future of Ephesus was not a future of full faithfulness (Rev. 2:1-5)

Christians at Smyrna were to be “Faithful Until Death” (Rev. 2:8-10)
History records that a Christian named Polycarp remained faithful.
As he was being burned at the stake he prayed, "I thank you, O Lord, that you have deemed me worthy. Worthy this day and this hour to take up the cross of Christ with many martyrs."
