1 What You Really Need to Know to Succeed at the Middle School!
A panel discussion for a successful 6th to 7th grade transition

2 Transition Process From May to September
6th Grade Orientation Lunch and Tour of the Secondary Complex ~~ May 24th ~~ 11:00 – 1:00 (Transportation provided.)(Bring Brown Bag-Lunch) Principal Schlanger and Assistant Principal Vercessi and Transition Team Members will meet with Sixth Grade Students at the Orientation Lunch. The Annual Marie Rogers Friday Night Live Get-Together Munsey Park and Shelter Rock 6th grade students join together – A Guidance-run function where organized and fun ice breaker activities will be held. June 14th ~~ 5:15 – 7 p.m. MS Gym In June, the counselors will meet with the 6th graders at the individual schools to answer questions. Late August, student schedules and locker combinations are sent on the Parent Portal. Incoming 7th graders are invited to visit the school on August 28th & 29th to check their locker combinations and tour the building to locate their classes. 3 Two teams--Blue and Orange-- Approximately 130 students per team.
Students are evenly distributed. One counselor per team Team teachers comprised of: English, math, science, social studies Team members meet on alternate days to discuss curriculum, testing, students, and activities.
