William Wordsworth was born in Cumbria in His parents died when he was young, but he was to spend his childhood finding solace in the rustic society in which he grew up. He lives close to the mountains of Cumberland and alongside the River Derwent. He would go on to call his childhood a pure communion with nature.
William moved to France in the early 1790s (whilst the Revolution was being fought) and found himself sympathetic to the revolutionaries. The bloodshed of the revolution saw William become a philosophical figure.
