Introduction of home server/network-related TC100 activities PC is leading the home network with network media player Broadcasting services based on home server will drive gateway function between in-house network and access network DRM is the key issue for A/V network deployment 6/24/2019

5 Highlights from Presentation 3 “Service and System Model for Interworking in Home Network Environment” Overview of standardization activity for interworking in DHF (Digital Home-networking Forum) Home Network should be “network” rather than “link” for exchanging data between devices. Focus is given to directory service for discovery of service and device ITU-T SG16 is extending scope to multimedia systems in home network. More standardization is needed on service integration, new services, NGN 6/24/2019

6 Highlights from Presentation 4 “Integrating Cellular and VoIP Services Using In-Home Wireless Technologies” Cellular subscribers are increasingly using their cell phones at home, wireless substitution for wireline telephony will likely drive home-based usage even further Use of in-home wireless technologies as the over-the-air interface for cell phones within the home will meet the rapidly increasing capacity demands in residential areas Integration with a Broadband Voice over IP network provides a signaling and transport mechanism for the voice traffic, as well as enables a variety of interesting features 6/24/2019

7 Overview of issues in the session
Components of the home service provided in the home network environments are: Internet access (web, , ….) Audiovisual, including conventional and storage-based TV broadcasting Telephone Tele-control, appliance management, home security Those components should be provided not only separately but also combined seamlessly to form integrated home services. 6/24/2019

8 Recommendations Write more scenarios of the integrated service that capitalize on the availability of the mentioned component services, such as a service merging broadcasting and telecommunication From those service descriptions, derive requirements to the home networking architecture. 6/24/2019

9 Follow-up actions Go back to each Study Group with the given information and views, and study on issues specific to the SG in the home networking and home services area In ITU-T SG16, consider multimedia services in the home network environments, add H.300-series system as a component Consider if the current H.300-series specifications are sufficient for the home network use, for example any problems involved in the communication via the home gateway 6/24/2019
