3 Steps for Accelerated Programs
Student demonstrates interest in Tech courses in the subject area Student completes Co-op placement related to the subject area 17 years or older, 24 or more credits earned Student completes the Application Package OYAP Coordinator/Consultant reviews Package Interviews with Mohawk College (TDA) Successful applicants and parents/guardians invited to information session Pat

4 Application Package The student’s application package must include the following: Student’s contact information and signatures (parent/guardian if required) Credit summary sheet OYAP participant section one and two, (participation form and request to register) Student’s resume Teacher reference form (2 preferred) Student questionnaire re: why they want to go into an apprenticeship Joachim

5 Team Approach to Student Support
Ensures that Dual Credit Teachers, Co-op teachers, Guidance Counsellors, Student Success Teachers and Resource Teachers are available to support our students. Use the resources available such as tutors, and Accessible Learning Services to address the needs of students. Ensure the Training Agreement , OCOT registration and registration process at the college is completed before the beginning of class Interpreters Peer Tutoring Employment Services Dual Credit Teachers Mike Cimba

Promotion of OYAP programs with schools Attached to all OYAP programs Liaison between Mohawk College and HWDSB Communicates marks and progress with co-op teachers Complete reporting of OYAP to SCWI Sit on the Regional Planning Team Support students in programming, Confidential Academic Accommodation Plan (CAAP), Next steps, Scribe, Advocate, Invoicing, Ministry Reports Angela Barbati How did DC role developed

7 Challenges in AST Level 1 – 2017-18
Strategies Ideal profile of each student – -Senior Physics, Math, English with higher demonstrated success -Safe work habits and excels at the workplace -Enthusiasm and personal interest in motive power -Consistent attender both at school and the workplace -TDA offers course in continuous block instead of day release -Translation services available for ELLs -DC teacher volunteering lunch once a week for classroom support –Use eLearning data to target students who struggle -Student survey administered Mike This is the model student that we are looking.
