I can cite explicit and inferred evidence from text. I can summarize the central idea of a text. I can demonstrate figurative language and word relationships. I can Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.

Weekly Resources: figurative language handout – simile/metaphor, personification, onomatopoeia, alliteration Argumentative writing organizer Homework practice Monday/Tuesday: Simile and Metaphor, personification/alliteration/onomatopoeia Wed/Thurs: main idea practice Monday: simile/metaphor practice for homework; main idea/citing text Tuesday: begin argumentative writing exercises Wednesday: iready diagnostics Thursday: i-ready diagnostics Friday: I Ready lesson/figurative language.

5 Arts integration and Differentiation
Figurative language: Students will take simile and metaphor of their choice, draw picture and trade to see if classmate can identify Oral administration Use of graphic organizers Small group

6 ELA 6th Math Learning Targets
I can solve equations using order of operations I can write and evaluate numerical expressions involving whole number exponents

7 Instructional Activities
Monday: order of operations Addition/subtraction, multiply/divide Homework practice Tuesday: quiz over vocabulary terms: Wednesday: iready diagnostics Thursday: I-Ready diagnostics, as students finish, complete assigned lesson in iready on exponents and order of operations. Friday: complete iready assignment for formative Students when complete with work will be allowed to utilize computers and work on i-ready lessons Homework is given at least 2 times a week

8 Arts integration/differentiation
Arts for exponents: students will use their bodies to give interpretation of what happens to a number when exponents are applied. Students write a rap or song about order of operations. Differentiation: calculators, oral administration, small group opportunities Manipulatives and graphic organizers
