Before start of intravenous infusion and bolus feeding NaH<sup>13</sup>CO<sub>3</sub>, l-[1-<sup>13</sup>C]-leucine, [<sup>15</sup>N<sub>2</sub>]-urea, formula, and l-[<sup>2</sup>H<sub>7</sub>]-leucine were primed at 5 µmol/kg, 40 µmol/kg, 15 µmol/kg, 15.2 mL/kg, and 40 µmol/kg, respectively. Formula refers to the diet of the group each piglet was assigned to. Vertical arrows indicate time points when blood samples were taken for tracer analysis.
