2 COURAGE: What is it? The most basic definition is: Having strength in the face of pain or grief. Yet courage is not just physical bravery. It also includes the ability to act on one's beliefs despite danger or disapproval. Activists such as Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela chose to speak out against injustice at great personal risk. Feeling Fear, Yet Choosing to Act. Think of such heroes as firefighters and police officers who put themselves in harms way every day. Standing Up For What Is Right. Sometimes you will have to make a hard choices between popularity and friendship, and doing the right thing. Have you had to make this choice? If not, what would you choose?
