2 Presentation Purpose Purpose – Fulfill Chair’s action item to come back to the group with the process to follow between now and when our first candidate draft goes to ballot

3 Where Are We? Final proposals have been presented and are being merged

4 Where Are We Going? We need to draft a candidate draft standard which is balloted by the Work Group, then goes to Sponsor Ballot, then is approved by the SA and published.

5 How Do We Get There? Finish merging
For each of the different proposed PHYs, finish merging the different proposals for the same PHY. Proposals may be slides, and do not need to be technically complete DSSS FSK OFDM Merge resulting proposals into a proposal (which might contain a DSSS option, an FSK option, and/or an OFDM option) with broad support Confirm the baseline (75%) proposal, which may be slides and does not need to be technically complete

6 How Do We Get There? (continued)
One Example of a Baseline Doc , a PHY Amendment baseline 6 slides to list the authors 3 slides for the technical content of the baseline for a two-PHY amendment with options Agreed at a previous Atlanta meeting

7 How Do We Get There? (continued)
It Could Be This Simple The 4g Amendment shall specify A DSSS PHY option [as outlined in xxx.ppt] An FSK PHY option An OFDM PHY option [other optional conditions…]

8 How Do We Get There? (continued)
Draft a technically complete draft standard from the confirmed baseline proposal May need to look at interoperability / MAC issues such as Device classes Is there a “common mode or modes” between two or more PHYs? Sub-group to work on this? Is there a default mode for a given PHY? If so, is it specified in the standard, or left to implementation / purchaser? Is there a mode scan / discovery method?

9 How Do We Get There? (continued)
Ask the Work Group to approve starting the WG Letter Ballot.
