Concussion Policy When a player is hurt an official must check with coach and/or Medical Professional regarding the type of injury Once the officials determine that a player exhibits signs the REFEREE and WING will notify the coach. Player may return when cleared by Medical Professional and the Medical Authorization note is presented to the Wing. Wing will then present it to the Referee

3. Concussion cont. After the game, Referee will complete the brief OHSAA Concussion Report. Email/scan or mail in the Medical Authorization form and OHSAA Concussion Report. – Email Brandy Young: byoung@ohsaa.org

5. Coach and Referee Mechanics Head coach wants to review a Rule Misapplication/Misinterpretation CREW: OHSAA requires NFHS Rule/Case Book & Gold Book to be at the field R/Wing meet with Head Coach at SL and listen to him. (judgment calls do not apply) Referee explains ruling to HC

6. New Referee Mechanics All plays from scrimmage – Wide side of field. Punt Plays – 5 YDS deep and 10 YDS wide – If the punter is in the endzone, position yourself on the endline If the snap is from the middle of the field, you may determine the middle

7. Referee Mechanics cont. FG/Try stand 5YDS deeper than holder and 10 YDS wider Referees no longer confirm signals (TD and FG good) When announcing fouls – Report PLAYER NUMBER Ex. Dead ball, False Start, #79, Offense, 5YDS, Still 1 st down
