7 Continuum of Learning Life Education Workplace Non linear process which should facilitate the transitions of learners to engage with new learning when needed, to recognise previously acquired learning for mobility and recognition purposes. Recognition of Prior Learning can facilitate these transitions through the recognition of previously acquired formal, informal and non-formal learning which builds on what the learner already knows 12/07/2019

8 Recognition of Prior Learning is a process whereby formal recognition is given to learning which has been acquired prior to registering on a module or programme Learning can be formal, informal and non formal Evidence of prior Learning is measured against the learning outcomes or programme outcomes depending on the nature of the application Access, exemption, credit or full academic award What is RPL? 12/07/2019

Generation of query Response from CIT Questions? General query in-house familiarity/ knowledge of what is offered in house training where participants are seeking credit change in regulatory requirements/ industry standard awareness of future requirements – future proofing Learning Clinic Case Studies of similar requests Team visits from discipline specific teams for introductory discussion Is it a real need? Is it sustainable? Individual or Cohort Is there existing training or learning the employee already has which could inform the conversation and the opportunities. RPL can be central to these discussions

10 Identifying and aligning learning to the national qualification framework in a learning outcome type approach Acknowledge that learning will happen differently Evidence of learning is necessary but requires flexibility Culture can vary hugely Staff need to be committed on both sides for a cohort approach to work The approach
