We have developed a new and general method for the one-step synthesis of secondary phosphine oxides from simple carbonyl compounds and primary phosphines.
Our long-term goal is to evaluate the potential of these complexes as new catalysts for the direct hydration of simple alkenes.
We have synthesized complex bis(phosphine oxides) by this method, and have incorporated these into novel transition metal complexes.
