Text: Hebrews 6: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”

Theme: “Hope that goes beyond the veil.”

I. THIS HOPE PROVIDES SECURITY IN THE MIDST OF HYPER SENSITIVITY – the writer of the book calls it a “firm” or “sure” hope.

- Jesus said it would be so – John 16:33 – “In the world you have tribulation.” - Peter said it would be so – 1 Pet. 4:12 – “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you.” - Paul said it would be so – 2 Tim. 1:8 – “Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God.” - James said it would be so – James 5:10 – “As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.”

THIS HOPE PROVIDES ENDURANCE IN THE MIDST OF A SELF-EVALUATION PROCESS - it is a “secure” or “steadfast” hope. III. THIS HOPE PROVIDES A BETTER LINK IN THE MIDST OF INCREASING STRAIN – it “enters behind the curtain” or “enters within the veil.”

“The LORD said to Moses: "Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, or he will die; for I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.” (Leviticus 16:2)

The One who said that, “In the world you will have tribulations,” also said, “Take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

The one who said, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you,” also said, “But to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation.” (1 Pet. 4:12-13)

The one who said, “Join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,” also said, “For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.” (2 Tim. 1:8, 12)

"Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; my beloved in whom my soul is well-pleased; I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall proclaim justice to the Gentiles. "He will not quarrel, nor cry out; nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets. "A battered reed he will not break off, and a smoldering wick he will not put out, until he leads justice to victory. "And in his name the Gentiles will hope.” (Matt. 12:18-21)
