1 Russian Cat Breeds By Yury and Victor Stark

2 Introduction History tells us that cats spread throughout the territory of the future Russia unitedly with settlement of the plains by the East Slavic tribes. It is not surprising that cats were always liked here, and in Christian culture they were treated with respect - the cat was traditionally and remains the only animal that can enter the temple.

3 BREEDS THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT BREEDS OF RUSSIAN CATS LIKE:
MEKONG BOBTAIL THE DON SPHINX THE URALS REX SIBERIAN CAT

4 МЯУ! THE SIBERIAN CAT The Siberian is a landrace variety of domestic cat, present in Russia for centuries,[3] and more recently developed as a formal breed, with standards promulgated since the late 1980s. They vary from medium to medium-large in size.[5] A longer name of the formal breed is Siberian Forest Cat,[1] but it is usually referred to as the Siberian or the Siberian cat.[3] Another name for the formal breed is the Moscow Semi-Longhair.[2] The cat is an ancient breed that is now believed to be ancestral to all modern long-haired cats.[3] The cat has similarities with the Norwegian forest cat, to which it is likely closely related.[3] It is a natural breed of Siberia and the national cat of Russia

5 The Russian blue cat The Russian blue cat appears to be larger than she is because of her extremely dense, soft double coat. She may be a good choice for pet parents with allergies because she doesn't shed much and produces lower levels of the glycoprotein Fel d 1, a known allergen, than other cat breeds. With her triangular-shaped head, the Russian blue is a long and slender cat. She is fine- boned with large ears, a broad forehead and straight nose, making her a very regal animal. Russian blues are known for a natural "smile." In addition to her luxurious silvery coat, her most distinct features are her brilliant green eyes. Despite being slender, the Russian blue is very strong and muscular, although her thick fur often hides her neck and shoulders, giving the impression that her frame is more robust. Her long legs allow her to run at high speeds.

6 Neva Masquerade Cat The Neva Masquerade cat is a pointed variety of the Siberian cat, meaning it has "points" of color on the face and paws. These are gorgeous, large and impressive cats with full, fluffy coats and brilliant blue eyes.  As the point variation on the Siberian cat, this breed's original appearance causes a stir: long, thick fur with a crown and ear tufts, a muscular body and bushy tail give the Neva Masquerade the appearance of a mini wildcat. So, it's hardly surprising to hear that the Siberian cat and Neva Masquerade are indeed wild cats!

7 THE Karelian Bobtail Karelian Bobtail - an unusual breed of domestic cats with different short little tail curved, resembling a round and soft pompoms.  The Karelian Bobtail is a rare, beautiful, and unique feline breed from the Republic of Karelia, which is located between Finland and Russia. It is also a naturally bobtailed breed that should not be confused with the Kurilian Bobtail. Because the bobbed tail gene is an inherited recessive gene, both parents of a litter of Karelian Bobtail kittens must have a bobbed tail in order for the kittens to have this same distinctive characteristic when they are born.

8 The Peterbald (St.Petersburg Sphynx)
The Peterbald is a refined cat with a long elongated body with long graceful legs. The personality of a Peterbald is very outgoing, very friendly, can be demanding and loud.  Most crave human attention like no other breed of cat you have ever seen. Peterbalds are extremely intelligent and they are very agile and quick! Their personality is similar to that of Oriental's or Siamese. Some of them do have "that infamous Siamese voice".  This is a fantastic breed if you want an affectionate cat that is a little bit more like a "dog"!

In Slavic mythology, the cat – is an independent and freedom-loving. Cat was not attached to anything as she lives for her own pleasure. Slavic Hero Tales – Cat – Baiyun drives away evil spirits. Cats on the contrary like coziness and are more attached to the home than to the owner. The cat always comes back home, but not to the host. There are cases when people move into a new house and the cat goes back into the old. In Slavic folklore there always existed a sayings about cats “cat has nine lives”. It was believed that cat in your house protects small children and drives away evil spirits. Or on example if you killed a cat – seven years of bad lucky will come to you. The witch Baba Yaga in Russian folk tales has a owl and a cat as her servants and spies that bring evil to you.
