3 Static and Dynamic Sources of Data
Static Source one in which the data remains the same. textbooks, DVD encyclopaedia, CDROM or paper catalogue Dynamic Source one where the data changes, usually changes in order to keep up to date a shop’s web pages on the Internet a newspaper’s page on the Internet flight arrival information on an airline’s web site

4 Exam questions: Airport Cars need to check the up-to-date landing times of its customers’ flights.  This is done by using the flight arrivals section of each airport’s website. Explain the difference between static & dynamic data. can hold larger amounts of information than a CDROM. data can be updated very quickly access data from any computer connected to the Internet reach a larger audience Disadvantages: need access to the Internet. more likely to be infected by a virus. searching can take time due to access speeds & number of web pages

more reliable source of information than Internet? don’t need Internet access Disadvantages: limited amount of data stored only 1 computer can access data at a time data data can become out-of-date quickly

Explain the advantages of using a website rather than a CD-ROM to show the goods supplied by Useful Things [6] The publishing company has decided that it needs a different way of advertising its books. Compare for this purpose using web pages issuing each shop with CD-ROMs [6]
