A portable, highly accurate scanner creates a point cloud data file that represents the image of the scanned object. Normal working accuracy is within 0.001”/ft. Inspection of the field object to the original CAD drawing can also be performed.

Scan Data into CAD Model
The raw scanned data image is reconstructed into a full scale 3D CAD model. Reverse engineering of the field object is complete can lead to a fully dimensioned CAD drawing.

An Engineered Pressure Enclosure has been designed to fit the scanned object. CAM processes can be deployed to machine intricate and odd shapes optimizing the fit.

The intricate nature of a pump impellor represents an ideal object to be laser scanned and reverse engineered for restoration or replacement.

The object scan will be converted into a CAD Model that may be used in a drawing, or directly machined or in some cases, 3D printed.

Flatness Inspection
A heat exchanger is undergoing a shop refurbishment. The gasket surface would be commonly inspected for flatness using dial indicators measuring maximum high-low.
Alternatively, the laser scanner is used to create a digital 3 dimensional model across the full width of the gasket surface.
On the following slide, a color map representing flatness deviation from limits provides a visual inspection report.
